Searching For Rainbows

In this poem I look at why it’s important to me that I remain optimistic during these challenging times. I’ve titled it Searching For Rainbows I hope you enjoy the read.

Searching For Rainbows

Every morning as soon as dawn breaks
I search for rainbows
I look for signs of hope
of better days to come
where can I enjoy the company of friends
and crowds of shoppers try on the latest trends
each creating our own personal style
I long for the sun to smile
as it kisses both the beach and the sea
I want experience freedoms I used to take for granted
like dancing with somebody
in the darkness of night
I would enjoy kissing
at the breakfast table
I want to be able to get
a seat at the theatre
or take advantage of the gifts
bestowed on us by mother nature
I want to be able to attend to demonstrations
to rage against the Tories
support independence and climate change
and other causes close to my heart
to use the stars as route maps
to guide me safely home
which is why every morning
I search for rainbows

When It Came To Winter I Went For The Comfortable Choices

Hey Readers. Since  Spring is rumoured to be on the way , I think It’s time for my first outfit of the day post of 2017. The picture featured in this post celebrates those classic colours and combinations that we girls can wear at any time of year.  This in itself is a reason to celebrate in my opinion, especially since I like to get value for money from my wardrobe.

This picture was taken at the Tin Hut after a brilliant night at the Words and Music Christmas Cracker but this being early in December I decided not to go too festive and wear more comfortable clothes from my capsule wardrobe so that I wouldn’t feel under pressure to look too festive too soon and getting this picture taken meant I was always going to post on it sometime after festive season was over.

The Grey top and black skirt is I think a timeless look which help me can blend in to a crowd rather than stand out from it and can make me feel equally  at home no matter if I’m cheering on the hoops  at Celtic Park or sitting in the pews at church on Sunday Morning. I really like the smart , causal style as I think it works well for a woman of my age who has a very varied social life and needs to clothes which I can mix and match without needing to phone Gok Wan for last minute advice

The fact I picked up  both from the River Island bargain rail for less than £20 is something that gives me a great degree of satisfaction. Well , Priscilla might be Queen of the dessert but trust me I’m Queen of the bargain rails at the high street store, not forgetting a couple of well known designer outlets.

The jacket was bought from Top Shop more years ago than I can to remember I think it was around 2010 and illustrates the value of an appointment with a style advisor. I remember buying half a dozen items that afternoon and I think I’ve still got three of them. As I said it’s all about value for money as far as I’m concerned.

With my satin touch tights and hotter shoes completing the ensemble, I think my understated look,  showed that when it came to winter I went for the comfortable choices.

What I Got For Christmas Proves That I’ve Been One Of The Good Girls

Hey Readers

As everyone is always curious about what our friends got for Christmas I thought I share what I got on the blog.

As you will see in this collection of photographs Santa has been good to me and I have been a very lucky lady with all the presents I received.

Picture (1) Shows the presents I got from my friend Victoria who spoilt me far more than I deserved with gorgeous nail polish, a good quality face cream , and a stunningly beautiful Celtic broach.

image

Picture (2) Shows some of the River Island haul I got from the money Janette gave me. As you can see, I got a lovely pink long sleeved top and a two pack of black tights. Well black does tend to go with any colour so it works well with any outfit.

Picture (3) Demonstrates the fact that I can be a savvy shopper as I also bought the same top in white and I think you can just about see it in this shot.

image

Picture (4) Shows the rest of my River Island haul which I wore to the Watch Night Service to welcome in Christmas morning and I think you’ll agree it looks reasonably festive. Well as my friend Fiona says red is the Christmas colour and I like the idea of teaming it up with a black skirt and black sparkly tights to complete the festive look.

Picture (5) For my last picture in this post I have to thank my flatmate’s mum for her generosity as she gave me a Christmas bag with woman’s stuff and a box of roses chocolates which always go down well in our house.

You know, all things considered I think Santa was very good to me this year, but so he should be. Because I’ve heard it said, he knows if you’ve been bad or good so I think by his generosity to me and by what I got for Christmas Santa has proved beyond doubt that I’ve been one of the good girls.

What I Wore To The Watch Night Service Was Selected By Santa’s Little Helpers

Hey Readers

In my 24th Blogmas post. I thought I’d post an outfit of the day post. Though if I’m being honest I think it would be more accurate if I called it my outfit of the night as this is what I wore to the watch night service last night. Well a girl has to get glammed to welcome the arrival of our Lord and saviour and as you can see, I managed to dress to impress.

As it was rather a cold Christmas eve (now where have I heard that line before), I decided to wear my long winter from Marks and Spencer which was gifted to me by my friend Lesley a couple of Christmas’s ago and never has a gift been more gratefully received. I like this coat for three reasons.

(1) It’s comfortable
(2) it’s stylish
(3) it’s warm

and believe me the last of those reasons is by far the most important.

Apart from my ever reliable Hotter Shoes everything else in this outfit comes from River Island and not just any River Island but the River Island in the Buchanan Galleries where I am lucky to get VIP treatment every time I shop there. Well the girls certainly know how to make me feel like a VIP and nobody will quite understand how good that makes me feel.

On this occasion since I was Christmas outfit shopping they helped to select this gorgeous red top, combined with a black skirt which I think is knee length though it may sit just above. I really like this skirt and I love the lace detail which sits at the bottom edge of it.

To finish off my look I treated myself to a pair of a black glittery tights to give it the full festive look and that was my watch night look well and truly completed. You see even in my mid 50’s I want to look as stylish as I can and I think this look really worked well as I was complemented by one of our younger more stylish conscious girls who said I rocked the look and really suited red.

Personally I think she was right but whilst part of that is the fact I wore it well part of it is down missy Christmas having a team of stylish stylists who can’t do enough for me and who really are best little helpers I’ll ever find anywhere. I hope they all had a magical Christmas god knows they totally deserve it.
