Tears In The Quiet Times

Hey everyone. This is another poem written from the perspective of a working woman. I have called it Tears In The Quiet Times. I hope you find it a thought provoking read.

Tears In The Quiet Times

Nobody hears her quaking
in her six inch heels
she takes the money
he takes her to hell and back
yes she’s paid but he makes sure
he gets his money’s worth
bleeding her dry
nobody hears
the cries of a tear stained evening
preferring not to believe
this could happen
but it does again and again
throughout a long hard night
too scared to fight
with nowhere to run
she will wait till the morning
before returning to her empty flat in the afternoon as she awakens from her sleep
she weeps whilst neighbours work
and nobody hears
tears in the quiet times
or the screams
between the silences
